I'm This Guy

statue2_040616_mon"Schmap’s series of digital travel guides integrates dynamic maps with useful background reading, suggested tours, photos from the traveling public and reviews by local correspondents (for sights and attractions, hotels, restaurants, bars, parks, theaters, galleries, museums and more) to profile 200 destinations throughout the United States, Europe, Canada, Australia and New Zealand."

They also cleverly use photos from Flickr users to illustrate their maps. They chose this one of mine for La Foule Illuminee (The Illuminated Crowd) in downtown Montreal.

Lakeland Local

llocal.jpgLakeland Local is a hyperlocal blog for current and future residents of Lakeland, Florida. I've recently moved to that Central Florida community and I can think of no better way to learn about my adopted hometown than to share it with you. On my site you'll find photos and information about Lakeland places, people, and businesses. I'll also mix in links to other local blogs, photographers, and news.

None Dare Call it Art!

t_nonedare.jpgSometimes I take photos. Ok, I take photos every day. Starting soon I'll publish some of my favorites on my photoblog, which I call None Dare Call it Art!

Doc Savage Organized, Doc Savage Info and Lester Dent Museum

t_dso.jpgt_dso.jpgsavagewiki.jpg

As a teenager I read the adventures of a hero. The novels appealed to me though they had been written for teenagers living in the 1930s.

Maybe that explains something.

Doc Savage Organized, Doc Savage Information, and Lester Dent Museum are the result.
The museum site is just my donation to the museum. More information soon.

Bookfilter

t_book.jpgThe first unauthorized Metafilter clone site. The site was my attempt to provide a site where people could discuss books and the ephemera of publishing. It debuted like gangbusters. Then the software was overwhelmed and it died. Michael Moncur brought it back to life with open-heart surgery. Albeit a slow sedentary life. I'm still debating its continued existance.

I'm responsible

I must take some responsiblity for the following sites:

t_englib.jpgEngLib: My darling wife's blog for engineering librarians. I did a little clean up work on her template.

I put together a site for my good friene Duane. Check out the Pulprack.

Jeffrey is my very favorite clown. They don't like him in Montreal or Miami though.

I used to have a personal blog. Actually, I still have a personal blog. I just don't link to it anymore.

Where Else?

Patrick StewartYou can find me at a few other sites. The photo at left is from my Flickr account.

I had an idea for unique reading lists a couple of years ago. Thanks again Andrew.

I did contribute a chapter to the the audio book, Free Culture. And in case you're wondering -- I still believe MLB should not have moved the Expos.

I'm not that guy...

dj45.jpg
With a couple of common names like Chuck and Welch it's easy to see that there are many other "Chuck Welch's" on the net. I am not any of these guys:

I wanted to be a fireman when I was a kid. It seems this Chuck became a Battalion Chief in Bloomington, Indiana. Even better is his fire equipment company. How great is the domain name Welchfire?! I ride a bike, but he rode his 540 miles to a reunion. He even has a blog about the trip.

I did toy with being a lawyer, but never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd ever become a Cultural Brand Strategist.

It is far too cold for me to live anywhere they produce maple syrup.

I'm a photographer, but not the guy in Maine. And the guy in this picture isn't me.

I'm really not The Crackerjack Kid: He's a mail artist.

I don't trade music from Knoxville, TN. He does have a pretty good collection.

I've never been called "Charlie". There is a Charlie "Chuck" Welch who is a dj/radio station owner. Once billed as "the singing d.j. of the music world" he released at least two singles: "here i am again"/"destination heartache" and "sugar to dirt"/"destination heartache." At left is the info from one of his 45s.

Hobbs Country Market doesn't have a website any longer, but the last I heard Chuck was running the market with his wife.

I did not join "Lochard & Associates LLC in Union Township as an associate agent."
